My Aunt coined the term, "OTS", or "Out There Somewhere" for Rachel when she was about 4 years old because she was such a unique little child. We always said she lived in "Rachel Land" and would come visit our world when she felt like it, but somehow she always knew what was going on around her. She doesn't get subtle (and sometimes even in-your-face) sarcasm. When someone is being sarcastic when talking to her she will give a little "hehehe" if she thinks she's supposed to, while trying to figure out if that person really does think she ought to be in a plastic bubble or locked in her room forever to keep her from poison ivy, for example. Rachel has always been a hoot & we have always enjoyed her little differences. She's always happy & contented & more times than not she's humming a tune, which drives Jimmy insane. She gets along with everyone, she's laid back, doesn't care to take charge but will if necessary, goes with the flow, rarely complains, never whines. She's much more like her Daddy than like her Mom. So yesterday morning Jessica & Rachel were playing with some letter stickers they had found & Rachel came out to show me their handiwork, and how she's embraced her uniqueness.
